Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

No special-assistance email address is published; Scoot routes everything through the per-country Call Centre hotlines or the online customer service form. Scoot cannot arrange assistance on partner-operated sectors of a Scoot itinerary — you must call that partner airline yourself.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Conditional

"Airline approval is required for all battery powered wheelchair/assistive devices" and you must contact the Scoot Call Centre at least 48 hours before the flight. Approval is therefore case-by-case; lithium batteries without UN38.3 certification are refused outright.

Lithium-ion batteries
Conditional

Accepted only with Scoot's clearance: "Airline approval is required for all battery powered wheelchair/assistive devices" — contact the Scoot Call Centre at least 48 hours before departure. The battery "must meet all test requirements specified in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, subsection 38.3"; "lithium batteries for mobility aids without UN38.3 certification will not be accepted for carriage" and proof is required at check-in. Removed and spare batteries: max 300 Wh (single-battery aid) or 160 Wh each (2-battery aid).

Watt-hour cap — battery stays in the chair
Not published

Not published. Scoot's watt-hour figures are given only for removed and spare batteries; no cap is stated for a battery that stays installed in the chair.

Watt-hour cap — battery removed into the cabin
300 Wh

"Removed Battery(ies) must not exceed 300Wh for a single-battery powered mobility aid or 160Wh each for a 2-battery powered mobility aid." The removed battery must be protected from damage, e.g. in a protective pouch/bag. NOTE: the lithium row says the removed battery is "carried as cabin baggage", while the general "Removable battery" list on the same page says it "must be checked in" — Scoot contradicts itself.

Watt-hour cap — spare battery
300 Wh

"Spare Battery(ies) must not exceed 300Wh for a single-battery powered mobility aid or 160Wh each for a 2-battery powered mobility aid."

Spare batteries permittedmaximum number under any published configuration
Not published

Not published. Scoot caps the watt-hours of a spare mobility-aid battery but never states a maximum number of spares. The dangerous-goods placard's "maximum of 20 spare batteries" and "maximum of 2 power banks" are general portable-electronics limits and do not apply to mobility aids.

Battery must be removed
Conditional

Depends on the design: "Battery(ies) that are securely attached and can be adequately protected from damage, should remain on the mobility aid" with the aid switched off and protected from accidental activation. "Battery(ies) that are unable to be protected from damage, shall be removed." Once removed, the wheelchair "may then be checked-in without restriction".

Non-spillable batteriesgel, AGM, sealed lead-acid, dry cell
Conditional

Accepted only with Scoot's clearance: "Airline approval is required for all battery powered wheelchair/assistive devices", obtained via the Scoot Call Centre at least 48 hours before the flight. Non-spillable wet / dry cell batteries "that are securely attached and can be adequately protected from damage, should remain on the mobility aid"; terminals must be protected from short circuit, e.g. by being enclosed within a battery container, and a removed battery must be in strong rigid packaging and protected from damage.

Terminal protection & immobilisation
Yes

"The battery terminals must be protected from short circuit by insulating the terminals (e.g. by taping over exposed terminals)" and "the wheelchair/mobility aid must be switched off and protected from accidental activation". For non-spillable and spillable batteries the terminals may instead be enclosed within a battery container.

Manual wheelchairs

Manual chairs accepted
Yes

Wheelchairs are accepted as checked baggage and are listed in CoC 6.3(e) as a special item that "do[es] not constitute part of the Checked Baggage allowance". If you need assistance to and from the aircraft you must check your own wheelchair in at departure; you may not use it inside the departure/arrival immigration areas.

No

CoC 6.3(e): special items including a wheelchair "may not be carried on board as part of Cabin Baggage". The special-assistance page allows only crutches, canes and collapsible walkers in the cabin (overhead bin, under the seat in front, or approved stowage); non-collapsible walkers must be checked.

In-cabin stowage limit
Not published

Not published — wheelchairs may not be carried in the cabin at all (CoC 6.3e), so there is no in-cabin stowage envelope.

Size limit for a checked manual chairAirline’s stated maximum wheelchair size
116 cm high

"Maximum height of wheelchair is 116CM for A320." It is the only wheelchair size figure Scoot publishes, but it is printed in the header of the mobility-aid battery-requirements table rather than in a manual-chair section, so applying it to a non-powered chair follows the wording ("wheelchair") and not an explicit Scoot statement. No width or length is given, and no figure is published for the 787 fleet.

Charge for carrying the aid
No fee

Carriage of the aid is free: "your wheelchair will not count towards your baggage allowance" (CoC 3.5c) and "mobility and other assistive devices do not count toward your carry-on baggage limits". BUT CoC 3.5(d): "you may be charged a fee for the provision of special assistance services", payable at the airport to a third-party provider or to Scoot in advance. On board

On-board aisle chair
Not published

Not published. Scoot describes airport wheelchair and High Lift services but says nothing about an on-board aisle chair on either the A320 or 787 fleet.

Accessible lavatory
Not published

Not published. Scoot states only that guests must be able to "self-medicate, eat and toilet" without crew assistance; no accessible-lavatory information is given for any aircraft type.

Crew help you transfer
Conditional

Plain "Wheelchair" service covers the airport to the aerobridge/remote-bay stairs only — "you must be able to walk up the stairs to the aircraft (if required) and make your own way to your seat". "High Lift" adds help onto/off the aircraft and to your seat but is available only at selected destinations: it is NOT available at Hat Yai, Ipoh, Pekanbaru, Langkawi, Subang (Kuala Lumpur), Malacca, Kuantan or Labuan Bajo (Komodo).

Fleet detail. Scoot publishes one aircraft-specific figure only: "Maximum height of wheelchair is 116CM for A320." No hold-door or hold-compartment dimensions are given for the 787 fleet, and remote-bay stands without level-entry boarding may be assigned.

Worth knowing

Scoot is Singapore Airlines' low-cost arm but publishes its own, materially different policy at flyscoot.com; the SIA record does not apply. Three things a power-chair user should know: (1) prior AIRLINE APPROVAL is required for every battery-powered mobility aid, 48 h ahead, by phone; (2) the chair is always taken at check-in and returned on the arrival baggage belt, never at the aircraft door, and you cannot use your own chair inside immigration areas; (3) Conditions of Carriage 3.5(d) allows a fee "for the provision of special assistance services", payable to a third-party provider at the airport or to Scoot in advance — carriage of the aid itself is free, but the assistance may not be. Scoot also imposes an independence test (self-medicate, eat, toilet) and may require an accompanying passenger. High Lift (help onto the aircraft/to your seat) does not exist at Hat Yai, Ipoh, Pekanbaru, Langkawi, Subang, Malacca, Kuantan or Labuan Bajo. CONTRADICTION on the special-assistance page: the lithium row says a removed battery is "carried as cabin baggage", the "Removable battery" list above it says the pouched battery "must be checked in". The special-assistance page is headed "Flights departing from and arriving at non-US airports"; no US/CRO section rendered and Scoot does not serve the USA. help.flyscoot.com FAQ articles are a JavaScript-only Salesforce site and could not be read.
