Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

There is no accessibility desk, no dedicated e-mail and no TTY/relay: RusLine routes disabled passengers to its general contact centre, and that number (8 809 505 46 69) is a premium-rate line billed at 64-68 RUB per minute including the time you spend on hold. Callers from abroad use +7 495 933 23 33.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Conditional

Accepted subject to a battery-type restriction and check-in surrender: "Кресла-коляски с электрическим приводом сдаются в багаж на линии регистрации и принимаются к перевозке в соответствии с требованиями IATA DGR." The FAQ warns "ВАЖНО! Коляски с сухой зарядкой аккумуляторной батареи не принимаются к воздушной перевозке" — chairs with a dry-charge battery are refused.

Lithium-ion batteries
Not published

Not published for mobility aids. RusLine says only that powered wheelchairs are "принимаются к перевозке в соответствии с требованиями IATA DGR" and never addresses lithium-powered chairs specifically.

Watt-hour cap — battery stays in the chair
Not published

Not published. RusLine states no watt-hour figure for a wheelchair battery; its 100-160 Wh rule is written for spare batteries for portable electronic devices, not mobility aids.

Watt-hour cap — battery removed into the cabin
Not published

Not published. RusLine does not say whether or when a wheelchair battery must be removed, nor any watt-hour cap for a removed battery.

Watt-hour cap — spare battery
Not published

Not published for wheelchair spares. RusLine's rule that two spare lithium batteries of 100-160 Wh may travel in the cabin only is written for portable electronic devices.

Spare batteries permittedmaximum number under any published configuration
Not published

Not published for wheelchair batteries. The two-spare limit RusLine publishes applies to spare batteries for portable electronic devices and is not stated to cover wheelchair batteries.

Battery must be removed
Not published

Not published. RusLine says only that powered chairs are checked at the check-in line and accepted per the IATA DGR; it does not say whether the battery must be removed into the cabin.

Non-spillable batteriesgel, AGM, sealed lead-acid, dry cell
Not published

Not published, and there is a term to clarify before you fly: RusLine refuses "коляски с сухой зарядкой аккумуляторной батареи" (chairs with a dry-charge battery) without defining it — it may mean dry-charged lead-acid, or be read as dry-cell. Confirm your battery type with the contact centre.

Wet / spillable batteries
Not published

Not published. RusLine gives no rule for spillable wet-cell wheelchair batteries; it refers only to "the requirements of the IATA DGR" and to its own refusal of chairs with a "dry-charge" battery.

Terminal protection & immobilisation
Not published

Not published for wheelchairs. RusLine's short-circuit protection wording (original packaging or insulated contacts) is written for spare batteries for portable electronic devices.

Paperwork the airline wants
Not published

No document required. The passenger must, however, tell the contact centre the chair's dimensions, weight and battery type when the assistance is arranged.

Size limit for a powered chair
Not published

Not published. No maximum dimensions for a powered wheelchair are stated.

Weight limit for a powered chair
Not published

Not published. No weight limit for a powered wheelchair is stated.

Returned at the aircraft door
Conditional

One-way only, and not guaranteed: a powered chair must be checked at the check-in line, not at the aircraft, but "получение кресла-коляски по прилёту, как правило, осуществляется у трапа, если иное не предусмотрено технологией аэропорта" — it is normally returned at the aircraft steps unless the airport's procedure says otherwise.

RusLine repeats the ICAO position that small lithium-powered personal mobility devices (hoverboards, e-scooters and similar) are not recommended for air carriage; that paragraph is separate from its wheelchair rules.

Manual wheelchairs

Manual chairs accepted
Yes

Carried free above the baggage allowance. "Кресла-коляски (за исключением кресел-колясок с электрическим приводом) сдаются непосредственно перед посадкой на воздушное судно" — a non-powered chair is handed over immediately before boarding, so the passenger keeps it through the terminal.

Folding chair may travel in the cabin
Conditional

Only if it fits: crutches, a folding wheelchair, support and tactile canes, folding walkers/rollators and packed prostheses may be carried in the cabin in addition to hand baggage "при условии, что их габариты позволяют безопасно разместить указанные предметы на багажной полке либо под сиденьем впереди стоящего пассажирского кресла". No numeric limit is given, and RusLine's fleet is CRJ100/200-class regional jets.

In-cabin stowage limit
Not published

No numeric limit published — the only test is whether the item fits safely on the overhead shelf or under the seat in front.

Size limit for a checked manual chair
Not published

Not published. RusLine asks the passenger to report the chair's dimensions to the contact centre but states no maximum and gives no hold-door figures for its regional-jet fleet.

Weight limit for a manual chair
Not published

Not published. RusLine weighs the chair at check-in and asks for its weight when the assistance is arranged, but publishes no maximum.

Returned at the aircraft door
Yes

"Получение кресла-коляски по прилёту, как правило, осуществляется у трапа, если иное не предусмотрено технологией аэропорта" — the chair is normally returned at the aircraft steps on arrival, unless the airport's own procedure provides otherwise, and non-powered chairs are surrendered only immediately before boarding.

A companion is compulsory for passengers who are deaf and blind at the same time (DEAF/BLND), for DPNA passengers legally declared incapable, and for disabled children under 12. RusLine uses the IATA WCHR/WCHS/WCHC/WCHP codes and publishes their definitions.

Mobility devices carried free
Not published

No number published. RusLine says "wheelchairs and other mobility aids" are weighed, tagged and carried free in the hold in addition to the free baggage allowance, but never says how many devices one passenger may bring.

Not published as an on-board service. RusLine's list of free airport services includes "помощь при пересадке в бортовое кресло-коляску" (help transferring into the on-board wheelchair), but it never says that an aisle chair is carried on its regional aircraft.

Worth knowing

Read in Russian; RusLine's English site does not carry the PRM pages. Two things a wheelchair user should check before booking. (1) The FAQ refuses "коляски с сухой зарядкой аккумуляторной батареи" — wheelchairs with a 'dry-charge' battery — a term RusLine never defines; it most plausibly means dry-charged lead-acid, but it could be read as dry-cell, so the battery type must be confirmed on the phone. (2) The only channel for arranging assistance is the general contact centre on a premium-rate 8-809 number charged at 64-68 RUB/min including hold time (or +7 495 933 23 33 from abroad); there is no accessibility e-mail address and no relay service. Beyond that RusLine publishes no battery rules of its own for powered wheelchairs at all — the entire policy is "accepted in accordance with the requirements of the IATA DGR" — so no watt-hour figure, removal rule or spare allowance can be quoted from the airline. Positive points: wheelchairs and other mobility aids travel free above the baggage allowance, a non-powered chair is surrendered only at the aircraft steps and normally returned there, and the free airport service list is detailed (ambulift, transfer into the on-board chair, escort to the seat). PRM notice deadline is only 24 hours.
