Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
Accepted only as checked baggage with the battery fitted or attached to the chair, and the Dangerous Goods table marks 'Approval from WY' as required for every wheelchair battery type. Acceptance is 'subject to mandatory physical checks during the acceptance process', and a chair whose battery carries no capacity label 'will NOT be accepted'.

Two official Oman Air sources conflict and neither resolves it. The Dangerous Goods page says a lithium-ion wheelchair battery attached to the chair has 'No limit on battery power'. The Lithium Batteries guidelines PDF (and its V2, linked from that same page) states 'Wheelchair battery power limits: Wheelchair with two batteries (up to 160Wh each). Wheelchair with one battery (up to 300Wh).' Left null rather than pick one; plan on 300 Wh and confirm with Oman Air.

A battery removed from the chair is reclassified as a spare: 'When batteries are removed from wheelchairs or mobility aids, they should be classified as "SPARE BATTERIES"' and 'the battery power must not exceed 300 watt-hours (Wh) for a single battery. If it is a set of two batteries, each battery must not exceed 160 Wh.' It then travels in the cabin.

Oman Air has no dedicated accessibility page. /en_us/special-services is two short paragraphs on 'Guests with Special Needs'; the substantive mobility-aid rules live on the Batteries & Dangerous Goods Policy page and in the Lithium Batteries & Power Banks guidelines PDF (an identical V2 of that PDF is linked from the DG page). CONTRADICTION to re-check: the DG page says a lithium-ion wheelchair battery attached to the chair has 'No limit on battery power', while the PDF publishes 'Wheelchair battery power limits' of 300 Wh (one battery) / 160 Wh each (two batteries) — the removed/spare limit of 300 Wh (or 2 x 160 Wh) is unambiguous and identical in both.
