Wet-lease / ACMI operator. Mavi Gök Airlines (MGA) usually flies aircraft and crew on behalf of other airlines. If your ticket says another airline, that airline’s wheelchair policy governs your booking — but the aircraft’s physical hold limits are this operator’s.

Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

MGA’s call centre (0850 777 2 777 in Türkiye, +90 850 777 2 777 from abroad) is staffed 24/7 in Turkish and English and is the only phone channel published; there is no separate disability line or text relay. customer.service@mgaairlines.com is the address MGA itself names for wheelchair-service requests, and the online special-passenger form on the Special Passengers page is the structured route — it uploads the wheelchair type, weight, battery count, battery specification and a photo of the battery label.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Conditional

Battery wheelchairs must be declared in advance and are cleared case by case: MGA's Wheelchair Application Form requires the wheelchair type, weight, number of batteries, battery specifications and a legible photo of the battery information label at least 48 hours before departure. One whole class is refused outright — see battery.wet_spillable. No watt-hour limit, removal rule or terminal-insulation rule is published for the classes that are accepted.

Lithium-ion batteries
Not published

Not published as an acceptance rule. MGA refuses only wet-battery (WCHBW) chairs by name and asks for the battery specification and a photo of the battery label on its form; it publishes no lithium-ion acceptance rule and no watt-hour figure.

Not published

Not published as an acceptance rule. MGA's only published battery ruling is the outright refusal of wet/spillable-battery chairs (WCHBW); it says nothing about gel, AGM, sealed lead-acid or dry cells, which have to be declared on the Wheelchair Application Form 48 hours ahead and cleared case by case.

Wet / spillable batteries
No

REFUSED. "Due to safety rules, wheelchairs that work with liquid batteries (WCHBW) are not accepted on our flights because they contain liquid batteries." The Turkish page carries the same rule: "Uçuşlarımızda emniyet kuralları gereği sıvı akü ile çalışan tekerlekli sandalye (WCHBW) akıcı batarya içermesi sebebi ile kabul edilmemektedir." The sentence sits on the Wheelchair Application Form and applies to all MGA flights.

The one hard rule MGA publishes about powered chairs is the refusal of wet/spillable-battery chairs (WCHBW). Everything else — watt-hours, removal, terminal insulation, spares — is unpublished and decided on the Wheelchair Application Form, which must be submitted at least 48 hours before departure with a legible photo of the battery label.

Manual wheelchairs

Manual chairs accepted
Yes

MGA operates a Wheelchair Application Form that collects the passenger's own "Wheelchair Type", "Wheelchair Weight", "Number of Batteries" and battery specification, and the ONLY chair it publishes a refusal for is the wet-battery type (see battery.wet_spillable). It also states that "our passengers, who can only move with a wheelchair, can travel without an accompanying person and a doctor's report", and prices WCHR/WCHS/WCHC at FREE in its fee table. No maximum size or weight is published.

Folding chair may travel in the cabin
Not published

Not published for a folding wheelchair. MGA does list "Clutches (A pair)" among the personal items carried in the cabin free of the 8 kg hand-baggage allowance — the Turkish original reads "Koltuk Değnekleri (1 Çift)", i.e. ONE PAIR OF CRUTCHES, mistranslated on the English page — together with "Insulin Pen, Special Food or other prosthetic devices (the item might be needed during flight)". It says nothing about stowing a wheelchair in the cabin.

Free cabin personal items relevant to a mobility-impaired passenger, carried in addition to the 8 kg / 55 x 40 x 20 cm hand-baggage allowance: one pair of crutches (English page mistranslates the Turkish "Koltuk Değnekleri" as "Clutches"), and an insulin pen, special food or other prosthetic devices needed during the flight (up to 90 cm). A walking stick is carried free per the fee table.

Charge for carrying the aid
No fee

MGA's Excess Baggage & Seat Fees table has a PRM block in which every row is priced FREE at both the airport counter and the UK counter: WCHC, WCHS, WCHR, BLIND, DEAF, MUTE and GUIDE DOG; under OTHERS, "Walking Stick — FREE". ("Nordic Walking Poles (up to 20 kg)" are 25 €, and a "Scooter (up to 20 kg)" 35 € — but that scooter sits in the SPORTS EQUIPMENT block.) A passenger's own wheelchair appears nowhere in the fee table as a chargeable item, and the Special Passengers page adds that the airport wheelchair service is provided "free of charge".

"Your claims will not be accepted without PIR." Damage claims must reach lostfound@mga.aero within 7 days of the disruption and delay claims within 21 days of delivery, "in accordance with international agreements". MGA states it is NOT responsible for "minor damages, scratches, scuffs, dents, dirt and stains", for "electronic devices placed in the baggage without protection", or for items missing from baggage. No mobility-aid exception and no full-value rule is published.

Seating & movable armrests

Fleet detail. MGA's own Fleet page lists Boeing 777-300ER (1), 737-900ER (1) and 737-800 aircraft and publishes wingspan, length, speed and range only — no hold-door aperture, no hold dimensions and no maximum mobility-aid size. Note also that MGA flies wet-lease and charter, so the aircraft actually operating a given flight may be configured to the contracting airline's standard.

Worth knowing

Charter and wet-lease operator: MGA (Mavi Gök Havacılık A.Ş., Antalya, part of the Anex Tour group) sells its capacity through tour operators — its own site offers Charter Service, Wet Lease and Technic, with Anex Tour, Neckermann, Bucher and Öger listed as partners. On a wet-lease flight the CONTRACTING airline's policy applies; the policy captured here is MGA's own, for flights it markets as MGA. HEADLINE FOR A POWERED-CHAIR USER: MGA refuses wet-battery wheelchairs outright — "Due to safety rules, wheelchairs that work with liquid batteries (WCHBW) are not accepted on our flights because they contain liquid batteries" (Turkish: "sıvı akü ile çalışan tekerlekli sandalye (WCHBW) akıcı batarya içermesi sebebi ile kabul edilmemektedir"). This sentence sits inside the Wheelchair Application Form on the Special Passengers page and is easy to miss; an earlier pass did. Every other chair must be declared 48 hours ahead on that form with its type, weight, battery count, battery specification and a legible photo of the battery label, and is cleared case by case. WHAT IS PRICED: the Excess Baggage & Seat Fees table has a PRM block in which WCHC, WCHS, WCHR, BLIND, DEAF, MUTE and GUIDE DOG are all FREE, and a Walking Stick is FREE; a passenger's own wheelchair is not listed as chargeable anywhere in that table. Beware two neighbouring rows that are NOT mobility aids: "Scooter (up to 20 kg) 35 €" is a kick scooter under SPORTS EQUIPMENT and "Nordic Walking Poles 25 €" sits under OTHERS. CABIN: a pair of crutches and prosthetic devices needed in flight travel free on top of the 8 kg hand-baggage allowance. The English Standard/Free Baggage page mistranslates the Turkish "Koltuk Değnekleri (1 Çift)" (one pair of crutches) as "Clutches (A pair)" and repeats the pushchair's dimensions against it — a human should ask MGA what size limit really applies to crutches. DAMAGE: a PIR must be raised at the arrival airport before leaving the hall, then a written claim to lostfound@mga.aero within 7 days for damage / 21 days for delay. MGA excludes "minor damages, scratches, scuffs, dents, dirt and stains" and "electronic devices placed in the baggage without protection" — a power chair is an unprotected electronic device in the hold, so this exclusion is a live risk. The Excess/Oversize Baggage page also carries a long protective-packaging disclaimer written for baby strollers and refers to "the applicable Conditions of Carriage" — a document that is NOT published anywhere on mga.aero. STILL NOT PUBLISHED: any watt-hour limit, battery-removal or terminal-insulation rule, spare-battery allowance, maximum wheelchair size or weight, gate-delivery promise, on-board aisle chair, accessible lavatory or seating rule. A powered-chair user must clear the chair through customer.service@mgaairlines.com or the form and get the answer in writing. COVERAGE: the site was enumerated from mga.aero/sitemap.xml — 40 distinct pages in each of English, Turkish and German (identical structure). All eight Baggage sub-pages were read, as were Special Passengers, Passenger Rights, Check In, FAQ, Help & Contact, Travel Restrictions and the fleet/corporate pages. There is no conditions-of-carriage page and no dangerous-goods page anywhere in the sitemap. The Turkish Special Passengers page carries more detail than the English one on medical-report cases (oxygen concentrators/POC/CPAP/ventilators, casts and splints, pregnancy from week 28) but the same wheelchair rules.
