Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
GOL lists wheelchairs with lithium-ion, spillable and non-spillable wet batteries under "Itens permitidos somente com aprovação prévia da GOL" (items allowed only with GOL's prior approval), and only as checked baggage — "É permitida exclusivamente como bagagem despachada."

GOL publishes no separate cap for a battery removed into the cabin. It only says "quando possível, a bateria deverá ser removida do auxílio de mobilidade e acondicionada no compartimento de bagagem da cabine" (overhead bin); the 300 Wh figure is stated for the chair's battery.

Worth knowing
All figures come from GOL's Portuguese pages (voegol.com.br) and are translated here. Two things a human should re-check: (1) GOL's baggage landing page now warns that equipment with lithium batteries, power banks and spare lithium batteries must travel EXCLUSIVELY in hand baggage and are not accepted as checked baggage, with new lithium rules from 04/05/2026, while the detailed wheelchair rules say a lithium-powered chair is accepted 'exclusively as checked baggage' with the battery attached — GOL has not reconciled the two; (2) the wheelchair-with-battery entries appear under 'Itens permitidos somente com aprovação prévia da GOL' (items allowed only with GOL's prior approval), which is why the acceptance facts are recorded as conditional rather than true. GOL publishes no wheelchair size or weight limit, no on-board aisle chair statement and no mobility-aid damage policy. Companion discount 80% after MEDIF/FREMEC approval.
