Wet-lease / ACMI operator. GetJet Airlines usually flies aircraft and crew on behalf of other airlines. If your ticket says another airline, that airline’s wheelchair policy governs your booking — but the aircraft’s physical hold limits are this operator’s.

Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

GetJet publishes no telephone number at all — its Contact us page lists a company address, bank details and three script-obfuscated mailboxes labelled "For sales", "For media" and "For passengers". The two addresses recorded here (info@ and sales@) are the ones that could be read directly from the page source; there is no dedicated accessibility desk. Assistance is arranged through the tour operator or travel agent.

3 of the unanswered fields below share one explanation: Not published — and moot: lithium-ion is not among the wheelchair battery types GetJet lists as accepted, so no watt-hour allowance exists on its site. The rest carry their own.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Conditional

Electric / battery-powered wheelchairs are carried as checked baggage, but only with a dry or gel accumulator: GetJet's page is headed "Battery powered wheelchairs (dry or gel accumulator)" and closes "GetJet Airlines does not accept other types of wheelchairs in Checked Baggage."

Battery must be removed
No

The battery stays with the chair. At check-in a dry battery must be disconnected, its terminals insulated and the battery "securely attached to the wheelchair"; gel batteries need not be disconnected if the terminals are insulated. Chairs with integrated dry batteries and covered terminals need not be disconnected if they have a master switch (with a manufacturer's label confirming the battery is fully disconnected when it is activated) that is turned off, or a removable control unit that is completely removed — "it is not enough to remove the control unit key only".

Window seat; emergency exit rows prohibited; upright seat with perpendicular backrest required

Under Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006 "disabled passengers or passengers with reduced mobility shall be seated at a window, seats at emergency row are prohibited", with seating chosen so crew duties, emergency equipment and evacuation are not obstructed. "All passengers with disabilities must sit in normal airplane chairs with a perpendicular backrest." GetJet will make every effort to seat an accompanying passenger next to the disabled passenger.

Worth knowing

GetJet Airlines (Vilnius) is on its own home page "an IOSA registered airline headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania that offers ACMI and charter services", flying for tour operators and for airlines such as Eurowings — so on a wet-lease flight the contracting airline's policy will normally apply. Unusually for an ACMI operator, GetJet publishes a full set of its own passenger rules, and they are the ones recorded here. FOUR THINGS A WHEELCHAIR USER MUST KNOW, all of which a human should re-verify with the airline: (1) Only dry or gel accumulators are accepted — "GetJet Airlines does not accept other types of wheelchairs in Checked Baggage", which on its face excludes lithium-ion power chairs. (2) "Passengers unable to take care of themselves during the flight, as well as passengers with motor or mental disabilities, may travel only when accompanied by a healthy adult" — a mandatory-companion rule. (3) Cabin crew "are prohibited from lifting or carrying passengers". (4) Carriage "may require prior agreement with the airline before purchasing of the ticket", and the travel agent must get GetJet's approval before selling the ticket. Points 2 and 4 sit uneasily with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006, which GetJet cites as the basis for its assistance. Also: powered chairs are NOT returned at the aircraft door — only manual chairs can be requested "delivered immediately upon landing"; everything else goes to the baggage reclaim belt.
