euroAtlantic publishes a dedicated mailbox for passengers with special needs (CRO@euroatlantic.pt) but no disability telephone line: on the day, you ask any cabin crew or ground staff member to call a Complaint Resolution Official. Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
Electric wheelchairs are expressly included in the two pieces of mobility equipment carried per passenger, "subject to 48 hours' prior notice, possible space limitations on board, and the applicable regulations regarding dangerous goods". They travel as checked baggage.

"Dry batteries (non-spillable) — These are not considered dangerous goods and must be thoroughly tested before being labeled as dry or non-spillable. They are not accepted as checked baggage" (PT: "Não são aceites como bagagem de porão"). That contradicts the rule that wheelchairs travel only as checked baggage — check with the airline before flying with a sealed/gel/AGM chair.

"Although batteries containing spillable liquids are generally not permitted in cabin or checked baggage, they may be transported if they are part of the passenger's electric wheelchair. The battery must be removed and transported in a special container." euroAtlantic must be told in advance and the passenger must arrive early and inform check-in staff. "The terminals of spare batteries must be protected against short circuits. Batteries should be carried in their original packaging, or the terminals must be covered with tape, or each battery should be placed in an individual plastic bag." 48 hours' prior notice is required for mobility equipment. For a spillable-battery chair the Portuguese page adds: "Se um passageiro tiver uma cadeira de rodas com uma bateria contendo líquido que possa derramar, é necessário chegar cedo ao aeroporto informando o staff de check-in" (arrive at the airport early and tell the check-in staff); the airline must also be told in advance so handling complies with the regulations.

"Please immediately inform our airport representatives if your mobility assistance equipment, or any other equipment related to your special need, is damaged during your flight. A report will be issued, which is required should you wish to submit this type of claim. We comply with the compensation rules set out in the Montreal Convention for equipment that is damaged or lost" — and euroAtlantic recommends separate travel insurance. Worth knowing
euroAtlantic airways (Lisbon) sells "Charters, ACMI, Wet & Dry Lease and AD-HOC ... for Passengers and Freighter flights", so on a wet-lease flight the contracting airline's mobility-aid policy applies. But it also sells seats itself: there is a booking engine on the home page, a Lisbon and a Bissau reservations office, online sales at flyeuroatlantic.pt, and it operates STP Airways (São Tomé) from the same Lisbon office — so the policy recorded here is the one that governs its own-ticket flights. It flies to and from the USA and publishes a proper Complaint Resolution Official page confirming compliance with 14 CFR Part 382. CONTRADICTION A HUMAN SHOULD RESOLVE: the site says "Wheelchairs can only be transported as checked baggage" but also says dry / non-spillable batteries "are not accepted as checked baggage" (confirmed in the Portuguese original: "Não são aceites como bagagem de porão"). Taken literally the two rules cannot both be satisfied by a sealed-battery power chair. SECOND FLAG: the general checked-baggage rule refuses any item over 32 kg ("must be transported as cargo") and the site never says mobility aids are exempt — that would exclude most power chairs. NOTE ALSO: no watt-hour limit for a wheelchair battery is published anywhere; the 100 / 160 Wh figures on the battery page are a general size classification. English and Portuguese pages were cross-checked and agree.
