Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
Accepted, but Condor's hazardous-goods table records "operator's approval required: yes" for mobility aids with spillable, non-spillable or lithium batteries, and the signed EMA form must reach specialassistance@condor.com at least 48 h before departure. Carriage is refused if the aid exceeds the cargo-door dimensions, if its tare weight exceeds aircraft loading limits, or if Condor is not satisfied it has been made safe per the ICAO Technical Instructions.

Lithium-ion powered mobility aids are accepted. Where the design allows the user to remove the battery (e.g. a collapsible device) the battery must be removed, its terminals protected against short circuit, and it must be carried in the passenger cabin.

Only where the device is specifically designed to let the user remove the battery: a lithium battery must then be removed and carried in the cabin, a removable non-spillable battery removed and carried in rigid packaging in the hold. A wet/spillable battery may stay installed if the aid can be handled upright, otherwise it must be removed and shipped as cargo.

Accepted with the battery installed if terminals are protected from short circuit, the battery is securely attached and circuits are inhibited; no spare batteries are allowed in that case. The battery may stay installed only if the aid can be loaded, stowed, secured and unloaded upright (terminals protected, battery secured, circuits isolated, spill-resistant vent caps recommended, no spares). If upright handling is impossible the battery must be removed — the German page states the removed wet battery may not travel as baggage at all and must go as a cargo shipment via a dangerous-goods-certified freight forwarder; the chair then travels as ordinary checked baggage.

Terminals must be protected from short circuit (insulating tape where they are exposed; fully encased integral batteries need not be disconnected). Circuits must be inhibited — a push-button off switch is not enough: remove the key, disconnect the cable plug, or fit an inhibiting plug (e.g. an Airsafe plug). Installed batteries must be securely attached to the chair.

Condor requires make and model, dimensions (L x W x H), tare (unladen) weight, number of batteries and battery type (WCBD non-spillable / WCBW wet spillable / WCLB lithium-ion); the German page also asks the Wh rating of each lithium battery. The completed, signed EMA form must be emailed in advance to specialassistance@condor.com and carried on every flight.

Condor cannot guarantee the aircraft type but confirms these minimum hold dimensions across the fleet: width 1.27 m/50 in, height 1.07 m/42 in, length 1.4 m/55 in (German: "Folgende Maße können wir jedoch für alle Flugzeuge der Condor immer bestätigen/verladen"). Some types are larger — if your aid exceeds these figures, contact Condor. This is a guaranteed-loadable hold envelope, not a stated maximum chair size.

Pre-book assistance and wheelchair carriage as early as possible and no less than 48 hours before the flight; Condor cites Regulation (EC) 1107/2006 requiring notification at least 48 hrs before travel. Be at the airport 3 h before long-haul, 2 h before short-haul flights.

Wheelchair assistance can be booked online via Manage My Booking; any other special assistance via the online form or the contact centre. Condor sends written confirmation. Assistance booked for the outbound flight is booked for the return too, if on the same carrier.

All Condor aircraft are fitted with an on-board wheelchair (WCOB) and crew can help you to and from the lavatory; it should be pre-booked. For safety reasons crew cannot help you in or out of the chair or into the cubicle — passengers needing that must travel with a companion.

On-board assistance includes moving to and from the aircraft seat, use of the on-board wheelchair, help to and from the lavatory (no lifting or carrying) and help with hand baggage. Boarding to the seat (WCHC) is by airbridge, ambulift or a specially adapted wheelchair depending on the airport.

Fleet detail. Condor's fleet is mixed and the type is not guaranteed at booking; it will only confirm that an aid up to 1.27 m wide x 1.07 m high x 1.4 m long can be loaded on every aircraft. Larger aids may fit on some types but must be discussed with Condor in advance.
Worth knowing
Condor publishes a detailed mobility-aid page in both English and German; the German version adds two things the English one omits — return of the chair at the aircraft door where the airport allows it, and the fact that a removed wet (spillable) battery may NOT travel as baggage and must go as a separate cargo shipment through a dangerous-goods-certified freight forwarder. The hazardous-goods table marks all battery-powered mobility aids as requiring operator's approval, which is why electric.allowed is recorded as conditional. Carriage of the aid can only be booked with Condor for DE-numbered flights. The US site (condor.com/us) carries word-for-word the same mobility-aid text; no separate US Complaints Resolution Official / ACAA disability page was found, and the EMA form PDF is dated JAN2021.
