Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
GCC 8: transport of battery-operated wheelchairs "may be impossible due to the size of and the mandatory weight restrictions for the cargo compartment"; they can be carried only upright so may not fit through the cargo door, and loading/unloading may not be possible at an airport for lack of adequate equipment. Carriage may be demanded only if registered at booking and at least 48 h ahead with measurements and weight.

Lithium-powered chairs are capped rather than banned: "Wheelchairs with a lithium battery must not exceed 300 watts. If your device is operated with two batteries, each battery must not exceed 160 watts."

Worth knowing
Chair writes "300 watts" and "160 watts" for wheelchair lithium batteries where watt-hours are almost certainly meant; the figure is recorded as published and a human should confirm it with the Service Center. Chair also caps the number of reduced-mobility passengers per flight ("for reasons of security and support we are unfortunately only able to transport a limited number of passengers with restricted mobility") without publishing the number, and GCC 13 reserves the right to require a fare-paying accompanying person for a passenger unable to care for themselves on board.
