Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
Accepted as checked baggage but ASKY's prior approval is required for every battery type except dry cells. The dangerous-goods table lists: non-spillable-battery wheelchairs — "As checked baggage, Approval of ASKY"; dry-battery wheelchairs — "As checked baggage" (no approval); lithium-battery wheelchairs — "As checked baggage, Approval of ASKY, The Captain must be informed of the location"; collapsible lithium-ion mobility aids — battery removed, aid and battery "In carry-on baggage, Approval of ASKY, The Captain must be informed of the location".

Worth knowing
ASKY's site is bilingual (FR/EN) and its « Mobilité réduite » page is a single sentence: contact reservations at least 48 h before departure. Everything substantive about wheelchairs sits in the dangerous-goods tables under Marchandises autorisées / interdites. Key findings: (1) a wheelchair with a SPILLABLE (wet) battery is refused — spillable batteries and equipment containing them are on the forbidden list and there is no permitted entry for them; (2) every other powered chair (non-spillable, lithium) needs ASKY's prior approval, and lithium-battery chairs also require the captain to be told where the battery is; only dry-battery chairs need no approval; (3) a COLLAPSIBLE lithium-ion mobility aid must have its battery removed and then travels — aid and battery — in carry-on baggage; (4) no watt-hour cap, weight limit or dimension limit for wheelchair batteries is published anywhere, and the 100 Wh / 160 Wh / two-spare figures on the same page are explicitly for consumer electronics and have not been imported. Nothing at all is published about manual wheelchairs, free carriage, gate delivery, on-board aisle chairs, accessible lavatories or transfer assistance. Baggage liability is capped at 1,131 SDR per passenger with no mobility-aid exception — a serious exposure for an expensive chair unless a Special Declaration of Interest is made and the surcharge paid.
