Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

Air Sénégal has no dedicated disability desk; assistance is arranged through the general Service Client line (Senegal and France numbers, 07:00–21:00 daily) or serviceclient@airsenegalsa.sn. No TTY/relay service is published. The « Nos agences » page lists further country sales offices (Morocco, Mali, Mauritania, Gambia, Benin, Guinea, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Côte d'Ivoire, Belgium/Luxembourg GSA).

3 of the unanswered fields below share one explanation: No watt-hour figure appears anywhere on flyairsenegal.com, including the 20-page Conditions générales de transport (which never uses the word « fauteuil »), the baggage pages, the FAQ dangerous-goods list or the US legal-notice pages. ICAO/IATA defaults apply — see the global rules. The rest carry their own.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Conditional

Prior airline approval is required. The FAQ lists « Équipements électriques d'aide à la mobilité » and « Batteries au lithium » among the items for which « un accord préalable est requis de la part de la compagnie aérienne », and adds « les dispositifs d'aide à la mobilité alimentés par batterie doivent être conformes à la législation en vigueur sur les articles dangereux » (battery-powered mobility aids must comply with the dangerous-goods rules in force).

Lithium-ion batteries
Conditional

« Batteries au lithium » appear on the FAQ's list of items requiring the airline's prior approval, and battery-powered mobility aids must comply with the dangerous-goods rules in force. Air Sénégal states no acceptance criteria of its own.

Watt-hour cap — battery stays in the chair
Not published
Watt-hour cap — battery removed into the cabin
Not published
Watt-hour cap — spare battery
Not published
Spare batteries permittedmaximum number under any published configuration
Not published

Not published. Air Sénégal states no spare-battery allowance for mobility aids or for anything else; lithium batteries appear only on the FAQ's prior-approval list.

Battery must be removed
Not published

Not published. Air Sénégal never says whether a wheelchair battery must be removed and carried in the cabin — the Conditions générales do not mention wheelchairs at all, and the FAQ only requires prior approval for electric mobility aids.

Non-spillable batteriesgel, AGM, sealed lead-acid, dry cell
Not published

Not published. No gel / AGM / sealed lead-acid / dry-cell rule for mobility aids appears anywhere; the only battery statement is the FAQ's requirement of prior approval for « Équipements électriques d'aide à la mobilité » and « Batteries au lithium ».

Wet / spillable batteries
Not published

Not published. Air Sénégal gives no wet/spillable battery rule for mobility aids. Its baggage page does list « corrosive substances: batteries » among the dangerous goods banned from hold and cabin, but that is a general prohibition written for loose batteries, not a wheelchair rule.

Terminal protection & immobilisation
Not published

Not published. No terminal-insulation, disconnection or immobilisation requirement is stated. Art. VIII.1 of the Conditions générales simply forbids anything listed as dangerous goods by ICAO/IATA and points the passenger at « la Réglementation du Transporteur, disponible auprès du Transporteur Aérien ou ses Agents accrédités » — a document Air Sénégal does not publish online.

Paperwork the airline wants
Not published

Not published. No battery spec sheet, MSDS, UN 38.3 report or form is named anywhere. The FAQ says only that battery-powered mobility aids « doivent être conformes à la législation en vigueur sur les articles dangereux » and that both « Batteries au lithium » and « Équipements électriques d'aide à la mobilité » need the airline's prior agreement; the Conditions générales art. VIII.1 defers wholesale to the ICAO Technical Instructions and the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations without reproducing any figure.

Size limit for a powered chair
Not published

No powered-wheelchair dimensions published.

Weight limit for a powered chair
Not published

Not published. No weight cap for a powered wheelchair; the 23 kg / 32 kg figures on the baggage page are the ordinary checked-baggage allowance (23 kg on the home network, 2 × 23 kg on other destinations, 32 kg in Premium Economy on Banjul/Bissau/Cap Skirring/Ziguinchor/Nouakchott).

Returned at the aircraft door
Not published

Not published. Neither the Special Assistance page, the FAQ nor the Conditions générales say where a checked powered chair is returned.

Electrical mobility aids and lithium batteries both sit on Air Sénégal's prior-approval list; expect the airline to decide case by case, and get the approval in writing before travelling.

Manual wheelchairs

Manual chairs accepted
Yes

« Puis-je voyager avec un fauteuil roulant ? Si vous avez besoin d'un fauteuil roulant, vous devez nous l'indiquer à l'avance même si vous n'avez besoin d'aucune assistance. » Air Sénégal publishes no carriage conditions, weight or size limits for a manual chair. Note that under the Conditions générales the carriage of a passenger with reduced mobility is itself subject to the carrier's prior agreement.

Folding chair may travel in the cabin
Not published

Not published. Neither the Special Assistance page, the FAQ, the baggage pages nor the Conditions générales say whether a folding manual chair may be stowed in the cabin; the conditions let the carrier limit cabin baggage by number and weight (art. VIII.8) without naming mobility aids.

In-cabin stowage limit
Not published

No in-cabin stowage dimensions published.

Size limit for a checked manual chair
Not published

No wheelchair dimensions published.

Weight limit for a manual chair
Not published

Not published. The 23 kg (home network) / 2 × 23 kg (other destinations) / 32 kg Premium Economy figures on the baggage page are the ordinary checked allowance and are not stated to apply to a wheelchair; art. VIII.5 of the conditions says the allowance's size and weight restrictions are those shown on the ticket.

Returned at the aircraft door
Not published

Not published for wheelchairs. The FAQ describes gate delivery only for pushchairs (« vous pouvez l'amener jusqu'à la porte de l'avion et nous la mettrons dans la soute à partir de là »); no equivalent statement is made for a wheelchair on any page of the site, nor in the Conditions générales.

Booking & cost

Advance notice requiredhours before scheduled departure
Not published

No deadline in hours is published. The FAQ says only « vous devez nous l'indiquer à l'avance »; Conditions générales art. VII.3 requires notification « au moment de l'achat du billet ou, à défaut avant l'enregistrement », and warns that a request first made at check-in may be refused. Groups of 5 or more reduced-mobility passengers need 'advance arrangements' for extra ground equipment and staff.

Charge for carrying the aid
Not published

Not published for the wheelchair itself. Air Sénégal says the special-assistance service is free — « nous serons très heureux de vous fournir gratuitement une assistance spéciale » — and the conditions carry a guide dog free in addition to the baggage allowance (art. VIII/10(c)), but nowhere say whether a checked wheelchair rides outside the allowance. The word « fauteuil » does not appear once in the 20-page Conditions générales.

Mobility devices carried free
Not published

Not published. Air Sénégal states a free allowance of one pram/pushchair/car seat for a child, and carries a guide dog free in addition to the baggage allowance, but never says how many mobility devices a passenger may check.

If they damage your chair
Montreal Convention limit — 1,131 SDR per passenger for destruction, loss or damage to checked baggage, unless a special declaration of interest is made at check-in and the supplementary fee paid; on US flights Air Sénégal commits to 14 CFR Part 382

VIII/10(a) raises the cap to the declared sum for an extra fee. Damage to checked baggage must be complained of in writing within 7 days. No mobility-aid-specific or full-value rule is published; wheelchairs are never mentioned in the conditions.

On board

On-board aisle chair
Yes

An on-board wheelchair is carried: "Help from the crew is limited to bringing the onboard wheelchair to the passenger and pushing it to and from the lavatory door." Air Sénégal does not say which aircraft types this covers.

Accessible lavatory
Not published

Not published. The Special Assistance page says crew will bring the on-board wheelchair and push it « to and from the lavatory door », implying the lavatory itself is not accessible from the chair, but no aircraft is described as having an accessible lavatory. Air Sénégal's US Customer Service Plan promises that « lavatory availability » is disclosed on its website; no such page exists.

Crew help you transfer
No

Crew do not lift or transfer passengers: "the passenger shall be required to lift him/herself — using the upper body power — in and out of the onboard wheelchair unassisted." Passengers must be "self supporting" (able to eat, take medication and use the lavatory unaided) or travel with a personal care attendant; stretcher passengers must pay for a paramedic escort.

Seating & movable armrests
Not published

Not published. No movable-armrest, bulkhead or seat-assignment rule for disabled passengers appears on any page. The only seating-related rule is that groups of 5+ reduced-mobility passengers must bring able-bodied attendants (aged 18+), the number depending on whether they can reach the exits unaided.

Fleet detail. Fleet as published: Airbus A330-900neo (290 seats), A321-211, A220-300, A319 and ATR 72-600 (70 seats) on the regional network. Air Sénégal publishes no hold-door aperture, hold-compartment volume or maximum wheelchair size for any of them — a large power chair should be cleared with Service Client before booking an ATR sector.

Worth knowing

Air Sénégal publishes a Reduced Mobility page in English only (/en/special-assistance/); the French URLs /assistance-speciale/ and /voyager/assistance-speciale/ are soft-404s that return the homepage, so the substantive French sources used here are the FAQ, the contact/agency pages and the PDF Conditions générales de transport. Three things a wheelchair user should know. (1) Air Sénégal will not lift you: crew help is limited to bringing the on-board wheelchair and pushing it to the lavatory door — you must transfer yourself using upper-body strength, or travel with a personal care attendant. (2) Electrical mobility aids and lithium batteries are on the FAQ's prior-approval list, so a power chair needs the airline's agreement before travel; no watt-hour limit, battery-type rule, weight or dimension limit is published anywhere on the site. (3) The Conditions générales make the carriage of any passenger with reduced mobility « soumise à l'accord préalable du transporteur », and allow refusal of boarding where special assistance was not requested in advance. Nothing is published about whether the wheelchair itself is carried free. Air Sénégal still hosts a US DOT Customer Service Plan and Tarmac Delay Plan committing it to 14 CFR Part 382 on US flights, with a US phone number and a New York Customer Relations address. Deepening pass (2026-07-29): the full 20-page Conditions générales de transport PDF was re-read line by line — the word « fauteuil » (wheelchair) does not appear once, and there is no dangerous-goods annex, so Air Sénégal's silence on batteries is real and not a page we failed to find. The site's WordPress REST index (/wp-json/wp/v2/pages) was enumerated to confirm no hidden accessibility, mobility-aid or dangerous-goods page exists; the only untried candidates it revealed (English conditions-of-carriage, documents-to-download, lost-baggage service) are two-sentence stubs. Damage liability is now recorded from art. XV: 1,131 SDR under the Montreal Convention, raisable only by a special declaration of interest at check-in, with a 7-day written-complaint deadline for damage. The US Customer Service Plan commits Air Sénégal to 14 CFR Part 382 on flights to and from the USA and gives a US mailing address and phone, but names no Complaints Resolution Official.
